With the BACKUP RS, U-Turn now offers a lightweight alternative based on the Roundsquare design principle.
U-Turn has always been testing the advantages of rescuer shapes and has continued to do so with numerous development innovations. The new Roundsquare construction was also subjected to various practical tests and produced astonishing results during the test flights. This allowed the positive properties of both designs to be enhanced. The advantage of the mixed design is a very stable sink rate with minimal pendulum movement. Additional air outlets allow the air to escape in a controlled manner and, in addition to stability, ensure that the rescue system opens very quickly. Both the opening time and the sink rate have been significantly reduced with the BACKUP RS series by means of complex calculations, enabling the EN and LTF standards to be undercut. Uniform lengths of the lines drastically simplify the packing process and can be easily organized using colour markings. Another innovation from U-Turn is the easy connect. Thanks to an integrated softlink, the main bridge of the BACKUP RS can be easily and cleanly looped into any connection.

Backup: Long-term durability with water-repellent properties
Thanks to many years of expertise in traditional parachute production, the BACKUP RS is manufactured using only the most modern production processes to the highest safety standards. The material mix is designed for long-term durability. The canopy material used, Paratex SX 20, is characterized by its high resistance and low-stretch properties. An antistatic coating acts as an adhesion barrier, which also speeds up the opening process.
