The world’s elite air sports athletes are currently meeting at the FAI World Air Games in Dubai. The first international and multidisciplinary air sports spectacle and the largest mega-event of its kind ever held. All disciplines are represented, from microlight to airplane and helicopter aerobatics. Until December 12, over 900 athletes will be competing against each other in a total of 19 flying disciplines. The World Air Games are organized according to the rules of the FĂ©dĂ©ration AĂ©ronautique Internationale (FAI). The event is undoubtedly the sporting highlight of the year for all aviation enthusiasts and also counts as a world championship. With its spectacular backdrop, Dubai offers the perfect venue in summer temperatures. Just 27 of the world’s top pilots have been nominated for the mega event in the paragliding acrobatics category. The Tuning-based paraglider manufacturer U-Turn is proud to have 8 nominated team pilots from its own ranks on site. The U-Turn acro team pilots include the reigning overall World Cup winner Nicole Schmidt and the synchronized team with David Geiser and JĂ©rĂ©my Peclard, who came second in the overall World Cup. Only pilots who collected the most points during the World Cup season were nominated. U-Turn is the world market leader in the field of highly developed aerobatic paragliders. The above-average participation of the U-Turn Acro Team pilots is therefore no surprise, as they can rely on the best material currently available on the market. The pilots fly the current acro wings Blackout and Thriller. Paragliding acrobatics not only place very high demands on the pilots, but also on the material due to the high dynamics. Nevertheless, the wing must react to control impulses with absolute precision and without delay. However, the top priority in the development of U-Turn paragliders is safety, which is why the innovation forge makes a significant contribution to the very high safety level of the entire paragliding sport with numerous revolutionary features. U-Turn wishes all pilots a successful competition.
